Managing Galleries

Introduction

Once you get galleries into the database you need a way to manage them. TGP Rotator includes an easy to use gallery management solution which allows you to edit gallery information, perform a search and replace, quickly delete galleries, and scan them to see if they are still working. This document will cover the gallery management interface.

Managing Your Galleries

To manage the galleries in your database, locate and click on the Display Galleries link in the Galleries section of the control panel menu. TGP Rotator will load a page where you can view, search, and manage all of your galleries. At the top of the page there will be a box which you can use to control what galleries will be displayed.

A description of each of the marked items follows.
  1. Display galleries that have a thumbnail preview or not. You can check either or both of these.
Has thumbnail preview - galleries with a thumbnail preview will be shown if this is checked
No thumbnail preview - galleries that do not have a thumbnail preview will be shown if this is checked
  2. These are your search options.
Search In - this determines what database field is searched
Search Term - this determines what is searched for. Leave this blank to display all galleries
Contains - This will search for the search term anywhere in the field you are searching
Matches - This will search for an exact match on the term you enter
Sort By - this determines how the galleries are sorted when they are displayed
Per Page - this determines how many galleries are displayed per page
  3. Click this link to perform a search and replace or search and delete
  4. These are your category options. You can select one or more categories from the list to restrict which category's galleries are shown. Click the [All] link to quickly select all categories.
Once you have selected the options to determine what galleries you want do display, press the Display Galleries button. TGP Rotator will search the database using your criteria, and display a list of the galleries it finds. Each gallery will be displayed in it's own section, as you see below.

A description of each of the marked items follows.
  1. This is the ID number that has been assigned to the gallery
  2. This is where you can view and manage the gallery's preview thumbnail. If the gallery does not have a preview thumbnail it will say [No Thumb]. You can click on the [No Thumb] link to create or upload one. To delete the thumbnail click on the [Delete] link. To create or upload a new thumbnail, click on the [Edit] link.
  3. Use these form fields to make changes to the gallery.
  4. This shows the date and time the gallery was last displayed.
  5. Use these links to visit, scan, or delete the gallery.
Updating

The following items can be edited directly through the Display Galleries interface
After you have made changes to one or more galleries, you will need to press the Process Changes button. There is one located at both the top and bottom of the page. If you do not press the Process Changes button, the updates you have made will not take effect.

The Green Colored Links

Clicking on any of the green colored links will apply that value to every gallery on the current page. For example, if you want all of the galleries to be in the same category, find a gallery with the category you want and then click on the green Category link. This will set the Category for all other galleries on this page to the category of the gallery whos green link you clicked.

Deleting

To delete a gallery all you need to do is click on the delete link (D) for that gallery. A pop-up window will appear confirming the deletion. If you are deleting an approved or archived gallery, you will also need to rebuild your TGP pages in order to remove it from them.

Quick Replace/Delete

When you click this link a small window will pop up with three boxes inside it. You can perform a search and replace, a search and set, or a search and delete on all of the galleries in your database. If you want to search for an empty value, use the special string [EMPTY] in the Find field.

To do a search and replace, enter the text you would like to search for and select which field should be searched. You will then need to enter what the replacement should be. For example, if you wanted to change www.galleries.com to www.mygalleries.com in every gallery URL, you would enter www.galleries.com in the Find field, select Gallery URL for the in field and www.mygalleries.com in the Replace With field.

To do a search and set, enter the text you would like to search for and select which field should be searched. You will then need to enter the field that should be updated and what it should be set to. For example, if you wanted to locate all galleries with platinumbucks in the URL and set the Sponsor value to PlatinumBucks, you would enter platinumbucks in the Find field, select Gallery URL for the in field, select Sponsor for the Set field, and enter PlatinumBucks in the to field. Note that this does not do replacements, but instead sets the field to the value you enter.

To do a search and delete, all you need to enter is what you want to search for and in what field. Any galleries found with that information will be deleted. For example, a quick way to delete all of the galleries in your database is to enter http:// in the Find field and select to search in the Gallery URL. This will delete any galleries in the database that have http:// in their URL, which should be all of them.
